Registering to play on an travel soccer team is a relatively easy, three-step process. It is important, however, to make sure that you complete each part of the registration. The Westchester Youth Soccer League will not issue a playing card to any player who has not provided each of the required registration documents. Step 1: Try-outs Each spring, try-outs are scheduled for the Edgemont Soccer Club teams that will be playing the following fall/spring season (the WYSL operates on a September - June schedule, with separate fall and spring schedules). In order to play on a travel soccer team, you must participate in the try-outs for the team you wish to play on and be invited to play for that team. Try-out schedules are generally posted in the Backpacker News and will also be posted in the "Tryouts" section of the website. Step 2: On-Line Registration Once you have been accepted on a team, every player must complete the on-line registration. The link for that registration is: >>> www.sportssignup.com/edgemontsoccer Fill in the entire registration form, including the uniform size information (if you don't know your uniform size, or already have a uniform, fill in the information anyway). A portion of the registration fee goes to the WYSL and the balance goes to Edgemont SC, where it is used to purchase equipment such as goals and nets, as well as to pay for marking and setting up the fields each weekend. Step 3: League Registration Materials If you did not play in the current season, then you must deliver the following items to the coach of your team:
Every few years, the League requires players to resubmit photographs and birth certificates. Your coach will advise you if you need to submit that material. |
